Tense (काल) - Tense Part - 6 - Past Continuous Tense

आज के इस पोस्ट में हम Past Continuous Tense को सीखेंगे।

Past Continuous Tense -

Past Continuous Tense को Past Progressive Tense भी कहते हैं।

इस Tense के वाक्यों की पहचान है - क्रिया के साथ रहा थी, रही थी, रहे थे लगा रहता है।

Note -

Singular subject के साथ Was का प्रयोग होता है।

Plural subjects के साथ were का प्रयोग होता है।

Rules -

Affirmative Sentences

Subject + was/were + V1 + ing + object

Negative sentences

Subject + was/were +not + V1 + ing + object

Interrogative sentence

Wh + was/were + subject + V1 + ing + object ?

Negative Interrogative Sentences

Wh + was/were + subject + not + V1 + ing + object ?

Example of Affirmative sentences

वह एक किताब लिख रहा था।

He was writing a book.

वे प्रोजेक्ट पर काम कर रहे थे।

They were working on the project.

Example of Negative Sentences

वे बाजार नहीं जा रहे थे।

They were not going market.

सीता पिकनिक के लिए तैयार हो रही थी।

Sita was getting ready for the picnic.

Example of Interrogative Sentences

क्या वे कोचिंग जाने के लिए निकल रहे थे?

Were the living to go to coaching?

क्या मोहित उनके साथ पार्टी में जा रहा था?

Was Mohit accompanying them to the party.

Example of Negative Interrogative

हम दिल्ली क्यों नहीं जा रहे थे?

Why were we not going to Delhi?

क्या वह पढ़ नहीं रही थी?

Was she not studying?
